Being a man is a difficult job—especially because we adopt behaviors that we believe to be authentic—but that really are not. Most of our challenges in life are a result of our adopting standards that differ from the Biblical model of being a man. These devotionals are a reminder that God has proposed a design for man that if we accept it—will reveal the true glory that is in man. This design is God’s standard for man.

One of the biggest deceptions for mankind is that because we interact with the world through our flesh, fleshly matters take precedence over spiritual matters. But the truth is, that we will exist in eternity, long after our flesh has turned to dust. It is with this reminder that we present the issues of the spirit man. That is, we recognize that our time on this earth is not long, and the impact of the spiritual decisions that we make today have eternal impact.

Aren’t we glad that today isn’t the last day of the rest of our lives? Aren’t we excited that we have another day to get things right? The good news is that we are “not a finished product!” And if we are truly honest with ourselves, we recognize that we are not yet what we can be—but we are not what we used to be either! God is not finished with us yet, we are still in a work that is being perfected in Christ!

Hope can be a fleeting thing—or so it seems. One day we are full of hope and another day we feel hopeless. But the good news is that when we learn that the hope from Christ is eternal—then our lives develops a whole new perspective. That is, we are no longer “up” one day—and then down another. In Christ—we have hope beyond hope.
